Hellebores (julrosor) are sooo lovely! As always, don’t believe everything you read - hellebores prefer calcerous soil - my soil is acidic but they are doing really well here and self seeding! This is one of the best things with hellebores - if you get a few different ones they will cross and you get new varieties pretty fast. The first one in this video is a gorgeous example of this! Fritillaria imperialis (kejsarkrona) - such a beauty 😍You often see them in quite imposing tones of red, orange and yellow but there are lots of softer shades to chose from! The pale yellow is fritillaria raddeana and the second one is called Early fantasy 💛🧡❤️

We need more green spaces in our cities, don�’t you agree? In Tokyo they are really focusing on getting more biodiversity into the city and this is a great example - a rooftop FOREST garden 💚 😍 Put the sound on and you can hear all the birds! I’m so very happy to do a project like this in Stockholm - it is going to be amazing for people and wildlife!

Lecojum vernum (klosterlilja) are sometimes mistaken for snowdrops. They bloom about the same time but if you look closely the shape is very different. Gorgeous right?

In aug 2024 I did my first showgarden - so much fun 😍 If I could I would do this every year but it comes at a cost of course. You might think it is the build that takes the most time and effort but it is not - it’s getting all sponsors on bord and coordinating all the work before hand. If you like blue flowers you should plant camassia! This is a bulb that flowers early summer and it looks best planted en masse like this 😍 They come in a variety of blues but also in white and pink. Easy to grow and comes back year after year. They prefer moist soil but can take some drouth as well 👍🏻

Winding paths where you don’t know where you are going are great in the garden - except for one path and that’s the one to the front door. Actually a very common problem which makes visitors uncomfortable and deliveries ending up in the wrong place 😅

Lovely meadow-style-woodlandy feel. You can do meadow style in shade too - one of the key plants here are rodgersia. Big, bold leaves and tall and sturdy flowers spikes. One of my favorite varieties is ’braunlaub’ 👍🏻.

Do you have a slope in your garden and don’t know what to do with it? Do you think you need a retaining wall? I’d say most often you don’t. Nature is full of slopes and you don’t see a lot of retaining walls there do you? Invest in gorgeous plants instead - their roots will stop erosion and it will look softer and more natural. Great design is timeless—both functional and beautiful. Adirondack chairs are one of my favorites—comfy even without cushions, sturdy enough to withstand harsh seaside conditions, and the wide armrests are perfect for a glass and a small plate.👌🏻

Carpinus betulus (Avenbok) is a popular hedge plant. I prefer Fagus sylvatica (bok) because it will keep is coppery leaves all through winter. Gorgeous in the winter sun 😍 Easy to prune in any shape so it also works well as a specimen plant 👍🏻

I keep all my furniture outdoors without cover year-round. I want to be able to look out at a beautiful garden in winter, not a pile of furniture covered in tarp. High-quality materials can withstand the elements and are well worth the investment in the long run. Long-lasting purchases are also the best for our planet 💚

Just a few days until christmas and here is my no 1 of the 40 gardens I visited in Japan. The moss temple is truely something out of the ordinary! I hope this video will inspire you to stop fighting moss in you garden and let some of your large trees stay. 💚 Merry christmas!

No 3 of my japanese garden favorites is Murin-an. This is not a very big garden but it’s been very cleverly designed borrowing the landscape beyond. Feels like you are way out in the country side and not in the middle of busy Kyoto. A true oasis 💚
