Garden with large social areas
Mission
The family has carefully renovated and expanded a turn-of-the-century villa and wanted a plan for the garden that needed to be renovated. The family wanted an orangery, large social areas with an outdoor kitchen as well as rippling water and a kitchen garden. Plants typical of the period and very edible were wanted. The project has been carried out in sub-projects, the first part was the passage to the entrance, then the front and finally the back. The family has a problem with visitors not finding the house's entrance.
Challenges
Get many functions in a relatively small area and adapt an older garden and environment for the modern family. Handle height differences laterally.
Lösning
A larger area for socializing is created between existing house bodies, new orangery and pergola. Two dining areas, an outdoor kitchen and a fireplace are connected by a couple of different levels with granite stairs. Gravel and cobblestones link to the house's era. More play areas for the children are created around the playhouse and a new kitchen garden is hidden behind the orangery. The plantings are framed by low hedges that enclose period plants such as roses, peonies and cut-to-shape wintergreen. Natural stone is used for walls to accommodate height differences and the passage to the house's entrance is made clear.
