Pool på brant strandfastighet

Mission

The family has carefully renovated a larger villa from the turn of the last century and now they also wanted to renovate and develop the garden. They wanted to connect the new pool with the holiday home, villa and beach. Accessibility needed to be improved through stairs and retaining walls. The pool needed social areas and greenery. The family wanted period plants and natural stone - turn-of-the-century romance with a touch of the archipelago.

Challenges

Big differences in altitude, dry and sunny location. Link the turn-of-the-century villa with a modern pool and the archipelago.

Solution

A long winding staircase in natural stone connects the turn-of-the-century villa with the pool, shelter and beach. A pair of lower retaining walls in the same material connect to the granite foundation of the house. The pool area is covered with irregular gray limestone and a pergola takes the carpentry joy from the house and provides coolness. The planned shelter house is lowered to create a better link to the beach. The plantings consist of a framework of drought-resistant grasses and shrubs that bind the soil in the slopes, supplemented by flowers from early spring to late autumn. A couple of flat grass areas are created for the children and new trees and climbing plants make the slope more enveloped in greenery.
