Makeover of villa and garden

mission
A house and garden that is 40 years old needs to be renovated and updated. Over the years, the family's needs have also changed and the environment needs to be adapted. There were some classic problems here, such as visitors having difficulty finding the entrance, the parking area was far too small and old retaining walls had started to move and felt outdated, as well as the house and outdoor environments that needed a refresh. The back of the plot consists of mountains and pine forest and the family wanted an easy-to-maintain and natural garden that interacts with the existing nature.
challenge
Tomten är störst i norr och mycket liten i syd-väst där den angränsar till en parkering. Tomten har mycket insyn och kök och vardagsrum har ingen direkt access till trädgården utan enbart en mindre uphöjd uteplats.

solution
The parking area by the street is being expanded and new retaining walls of dark gray concrete are replacing the old ones and softening it with trees and climbing plants. The entrance stairs are getting a new look so visitors can find their way and the large slope is softened with natural shrubs and meadow plants. Tired lawns and paving are being replaced with natural gravel and soft plantings and the entrance is being made private and leafy with a new seating area in the shade. The facade is getting new paint and railings which makes it feel modern and the old plastic patio is being opened up to the garden and given a leafy room division.
