Skydd mot insyn och vädrets krafter

Good landscaping weaves in protection from scorching sun, winds, drought and visibility and makes them feel like a natural part of the garden. If you live, for example, in an exposed location by the sea, an ordinary hedge is not enough, but you need to work with trees and bushes in several layers and levels to slow down the wind. Trellis and pergolas with climbing plants are beautiful in themselves and excellent wind and privacy protection. Drought is becoming an increasingly common problem with climate change, and garden design needs to deal with that. Sometimes I'm told that trees drink a lot of water and would be bad in a drought, but it's just the opposite! Trees and ground cover create a good microclimate and provide shade, which reduces evaporation, wind and erosion.
