A meadow can be many things - everything from a landscaped perennial meadow to a culturally historically valuable environment that arose as a result of human animal husbandry. In its simplest form, a meadow can be a lawn that you stop mowing. If you want a lot of flowers, however, a little more work is required. In naturally grassy environments, I like to work with meadows and then I mix both native flowers with more exotic ones to get a long season and a certain color scale. Feel free to let the meadow live its own life - plants will establish there naturally and let what is beautiful remain and only clear away what you don't like or that risks taking over.
