Trädgården på klippan
Mission
Create a garden for a spectacular black villa with Japanese influences by architect Buster Delin in a very exposed location at the edge of a cliff. The family wanted evergreen plants that fit both the modern architecture and the barren archipelago environment with mountains and pines. They also wanted privacy and plant barriers against steep cliffs and greenery by the infinity pool.
Challenges
Very exposed location with scorching southern sun and wind, lots of mountains and partially thin soil layer. Create a garden that suits a family with children and at the same time combines modern architecture with the archipelago environment.
Lösning
Here, the beautiful architecture and the breathtaking view have played the main role and we have deliberately left the green environment calm with few flowers. Different shades of green with lots of grass and evergreen shrubs create a robust and easy-to-maintain garden that is at the same time varied, lush and undulating. The Japanese influences are picked up by spring-blooming cherry trees and Japanese maples with vibrant autumn colors that make the garden interesting through all seasons. Even the ever-present mountain has had to take its place and we have strengthened the archipelago character by using the archipelago's plants such as rowan, beach rye, heather and thrift in the harshest environments. The majority of the plant material is evergreen. Gravel has been used as ground material and grass areas have been created for the children.
